Reminder - New Store Hours Effective September 15, 2008:
Monday – Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
1st & 3rd Saturday of the Month: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Closed Saturdays: June 15 – September 15 – inclusive


GREAT RIVERS REGION RESOURCES

Camp Spooky-Brook:
All Girl Scout Brownies and Juniors are invited to come have a Spooktacular time at Camp Spooky-Brook! Registration opens September 8 on the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio Website. Camp Spooky-Brook will be October 18, 2008. Registration is now open for Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors! Lead activities for younger Girl Scouts, including the haunted lodge, crafts, songs, games, snacks, and much more! Boo! All older Girl Scouts willing to help must attend the planning session, October 11, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Camp Stonybrook and the event, October 18, 12:00 - 9:00 p.m. Any Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, or Ambassadors interested, please call Jessica Gutierrez at 513-489-1025 or 1-800-537-6241, ext. 115 or e-mail jessicagutierrez@girlscoutsofwesternohio.org  to register.

 

Fall Product Sale:

Does your troop have plans for the Fall, but no cash?  Consider participating in the Fall Product Sale, where girls will learn about goal setting, teamwork, and communications, all while earning $.60 for each item sold plus recognitions.  Sale dates are October 30 – November 10, 2008.  Please talk to your service unit manager for more information or visit www.girlscoutsofwesternohio.org to access online Troop Fall Product Manager Training

Cadette Senior Ambassador Association Meetings:

It’s time for CSA Association meetings!  All Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors are invited to our kick-off meeting of the year!  The meeting will be held September 21st at Camp Butterworth from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.  The Cadette Senior Ambassador Association is all about YOU and the things you love - challenge, service, and adventure!  For information about the CSA Association, please contact Jessica Gutierrez by calling 513-489-1025 or 1-800-537-6241, ext.115 or e-mail jessicagutierrez@girlscoutsofwesternohio.org.

Council Store:

Important Dates to Remember:
  • October 15 $ Council Store is closed to the public, but call-ahead ordering and pickup is available.
  • Online store offers free shipping during construction!
  • November 21 – 26 -Council Store closed for inventory.

Great Rivers Regional Office Construction Timeline:
Great Rivers Region is getting a new addition! The new volunteer services addition will provide 50% more flexible use plus volunteer meeting space for volunteer meetings, trainings, and program activities. The new addition will house 3 large meeting rooms (which can be opened up into 1 or 2 larger meeting rooms), a volunteer library/resource room, a new Council Store, and a larger “catering kitchen” for the volunteer meeting rooms. In addition, 2 smaller meeting rooms will be able to be used separately or as 1 larger room. The new volunteer services addition is scheduled to open in May/June of 2009.

Each month we will update you on our progress and how the construction’s process affects volunteers. You can also get the most up-to-date information by checking the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio website.

  • September 29 - All meeting rooms closed for construction.
  • Construction begins: new addition and meeting room renovation commences.
  • Front lobby doors are closed and front lawn area is blocked off as a construction zone.
  • Entry to the building will be through the side staff entrance with receptionist, a store representative, and volunteer materials available.

Winter Craft Bazaar- the fee is $10 per table (no charge for day of attendance for troops) page 26.

Boutique for Girls:
• Two new Troop Groovy dolls are available ( Strong Sierra and Considerate Christa)
• Troop Groovy doll Selia is no longer available
• Journey books, awards and keepsakes are currently available
• Official sweater set, polo and/or scarf are available

Attention Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador:

The Cadette/Senior/Ambassador Association (CSA) is a chance for girls ages 11-17 to plan their own activities, events, and service projects. CSA will meet the third Sunday of each month from October-May! This program is free.
Chatterbox- J-Day - Learn about journalism, meet journalists, and help create and be published in the next online edition of Chatterbox. There are three sessions (Oct. 4th, Feb 7th, & March 7th).

On-Time: The process of registering girls and adults for the upcoming 2008-2009 membership year. (Timeframe to turn in registrations is August 1 – September 30, 2008).

The new Girl Scout membership year begins October 1, 2008.
Registration amount for the 2008-2009 membership year is $10.

On-Time registrations for returning troops turned in by September 30, 2008
 A drawing will be held for one troop to win a FREE Pizza Party.
